1989 Itinerary & Photos

What a mission! TC & Muldowney were 26 at the time and completed majority of the itinerary. Left behind are photos, journals and countless stories which helped me stitch my own route together.

To copy paste words Brian Behmer, my Dad’s former college roommate, wrote in a tribute reflecting on his friend’s life:

“Perhaps nothing epitomized Tom more than his “trip around the world”. After working for IBM in Chicago for four years in sales, and earning his MBA at night from Northwestern, TC sold his stock and planned his trip heading east to visit scores of countries over nearly a year. He was using reams of his graph paper to plan this trip. One Infrastructure ROTC buddy, Michael (“Big Man” aka, “Biggie Fresh”) Muldowney (85’) was finishing his Air Force military commitment at the same time and could go. Tom (and Mike) had terrific adventures and experiences, and drew upon them often. We relished the tales of their various adventures, from seeing many historic, beautiful places, and interesting people, to seeing the Berlin Wall fall, to them buying an old used car to travel Western Europe and selling it to some sketchy characters on a Soviet cruise ship, to making it to Mother Theresa’s compound in India for a week to energize their spirituality”

Had to learn how to use this Kodak Carousel to view the slides
